About Us
McCreadys Shoestyle has been at 85 Main Street Newcastle since 26 March 1936 (77 years)! It was first established by Rathfriland man Robert McCready. After a successful beginning Roberts son Ernie and his wife Edith took over the shop.
In 1973 their daughter Edna Howard started to help with the running of the shop and the baton was passed to her. Under Edna's watchful eye, there have been extensive renovations and refurbishments over the years, the most significant being in 1993.
McCreadys is a traditional family business and are now into their fourth generation, as Edna's daughter Joanne Sloan helps with the day to day business and sourcing new products.
Generations of families have visted the shop. It's not unusual to hear people saying how their parents used to take them to McCreadys for their shoes and now they are bringing their children and grand children to McCreadys.
We pride ourselves on having something for everyone. McCreadys stock ranges such as Hotter, K shoes, Rieker and Lotus plus for those who need wider fitting comfort shoes. All staff have undertaken and successfully completed the Clarks traning course. There is always a tranined staff member on hand to give advice on fitting children's shoes. Children have a great choice from all the leading brands such as Clarks, Skechers, Converse, Lelli Kelly, we also do non branded shoes, sandals and trainers at great prices.
For weddings and special occassions we offer a great collection of styles with matching bags from Lunar and Lotus, other fashion ranges include Clarks, Escape, Dolcis, Odeon, Iron Fist and Anne Michelle to name a few. Then for something more casual we have Skechers, Converse, Zanni, Earth Sprit, and Naturalizer.
